We can do it by working with our neighbouring provinces to process our bitumen in the West rather than shipping all that opportunity to other countries. An Alberta Liberal government would increase the government’s total take from oil and gas royalties to the level recommended by the royalty review panel. In 2006, this would have raised an extra $1.9 billion for Albertans, the owners of the resource. Premier Stelmach’s plan will fall half a billion dollars short of this goal every year.
